Rooted in Bed-Stuy, Built for Brooklyn
Last updated May 1, 2026
Jungle Kingdom Flower is more than a dispensary. We are a neighborhood business built on the belief that cannabis can strengthen community, create opportunity, and bring people together. Located at 515 Nostrand Ave in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, we are proud to serve one of Brooklyn's most iconic and culturally rich neighborhoods. Everything about our dispensary, from the products we carry to the people we hire, reflects our commitment to this community.
Our Neighborhood
Bedford-Stuyvesant is one of the largest and most historically significant neighborhoods in Brooklyn. With roots stretching back to the seventeenth century and a cultural identity shaped by generations of Black Americans, Bed-Stuy is a neighborhood defined by resilience, creativity, and pride. From the landmark brownstones along Stuyvesant Avenue to the bustling energy of Fulton Street, every block tells a story.
We chose 515 Nostrand Ave because Nostrand is one of the central arteries of Bed-Stuy life. It is the street where families shop, neighbors catch up, and local businesses thrive. Our storefront sits within walking distance of Herbert Von King Park, the Restoration Plaza, and the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA. We are a short walk from the Kingston-Throop and Nostrand Avenue stops on the A and C lines, making us easily accessible from across Brooklyn and beyond.
Opening a cannabis dispensary on Nostrand was a deliberate choice. We wanted to be part of the daily rhythm of the neighborhood, not tucked away in an industrial zone or positioned on a tourist corridor. When you visit Jungle Kingdom Flower, you are visiting a Bed-Stuy business surrounded by the bodegas, barbershops, restaurants, and community organizations that make this neighborhood what it is.
Community First
Operating a licensed cannabis dispensary in New York carries a responsibility that goes beyond selling products. The cannabis industry in this state was built with social equity at its core. New York's Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) was designed to ensure that communities most affected by decades of cannabis prohibition would benefit from legalization. That principle guides how we operate every day.
For Jungle Kingdom Flower, community first means several things. It means hiring locally, prioritizing Bed-Stuy and Brooklyn residents for positions throughout our operation. It means paying fair wages and creating a workplace where people can build careers, not just clock hours. It means being transparent about what we sell, how we price it, and where our products come from. Every item on our shelves is sourced from licensed New York cultivators, lab-tested for potency and safety, and clearly labeled so customers know exactly what they are getting.
Community first also means giving back. We believe that a dispensary should be an asset to its neighborhood, not a burden. That means keeping our storefront clean and welcoming, being a responsible neighbor, and participating in the life of the community around us. We support local events, collaborate with nearby businesses, and make ourselves available to answer questions from anyone who wants to learn more about legal cannabis in New York.
Social equity in cannabis is not just a policy checkbox. It is a commitment to ensuring that the people and neighborhoods who bore the brunt of prohibition are the ones who benefit from this new industry. Bed-Stuy was disproportionately impacted by cannabis enforcement for decades. Having a licensed, community-oriented dispensary on Nostrand Ave is a small but meaningful step toward correcting that imbalance.
Cannabis Culture in Brooklyn
Brooklyn has always had its own relationship with cannabis. Long before legalization, cannabis was woven into the cultural fabric of neighborhoods across the borough, from the music studios of Fort Greene to the stoops of Crown Heights to the art galleries of Bushwick. It was part of creative life, social life, and for many people, daily life. But for decades, that relationship existed in the shadows, shaped by criminalization rather than choice.
Legalization changed the conversation. When New York legalized adult-use cannabis in 2021, it opened the door for people to access cannabis safely, legally, and without stigma. But legalization alone does not erase decades of harm. The transition from prohibition to a regulated market requires education, trust, and businesses that are willing to meet people where they are.
At Jungle Kingdom Flower, we see ourselves as part of that transition. We serve customers who have been consuming cannabis for years and customers who are trying it for the first time. We serve people who know exactly what strain and terpene profile they want and people who need a budtender to walk them through the basics. We meet every customer with respect, patience, and knowledge, regardless of their experience level.
Destigmatization is a process, not an event. Every time someone walks into a licensed dispensary, asks a question, and has a positive experience, the stigma around cannabis loosens a little more. Every time a neighbor sees a well-run cannabis business contributing to the block, the narrative shifts. We are proud to be part of that shift in Bed-Stuy and across Brooklyn.
Brooklyn's cannabis culture is evolving. It is moving from something whispered about to something discussed openly, from something bought in uncertainty to something purchased with confidence from a licensed, regulated source. Jungle Kingdom Flower is here to be part of that evolution, one customer and one conversation at a time.
